This sculpture and its story reminds me of the scripture...
1 tim 6:12 'Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto you are also called, and have professed a good profession before many witnesses' - (AmericanKJV)
I'm not so much of a history student but i love to research my findings. I found this beautiful bronze sculpture on a monument along westminster, it was titled 'The Battle of Britain', what is arguably the finest war monument in London. Designed by british sculpture Paul Day, It was unveilled by Prince Charles and the Duches of Cornwall on the 18th of september 2005. It was built as a testament to the courage and sacrifice of the 2974 aircrew who fought so tenaciously during the summer of 1940, and in doing so saved England from invasion and subsequent occupation by the most heinous regime in the history of mankind.

'. . . the Battle of France is over, I expect that the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. Upon it depends our own British life, and the long continuity of our institutions and our Empire.' - WINSTON CHURCHILL June 18, 1940
